You need LOTS of tips, no one, that is no one has ever conquered golf. Not even Tiger or Nicklaus. They come closest but even they do not quite make it.

The biggest mistake that new golfers make is trying to scope their club head under the ball. Believe it or not you want to hit down on hte ball. Thta’s right hit the ball on your downswing.

I just started last month myself. I took four lessons before playing my first game. The instructor said to play a few games then come back to him for a brush up. I also found this site which has some very helpful videos by topic. One in particular has been very helpful with chipping.

You may have to register to watch the videos, I don’t remember. Good luck.

first tip…practice your grip. while you sitting in front of the tv get a club out (7 iron or pitching wedge) and grip it during whole time you watching tv. grip the club and hold it for a minute and half and release the grip for 15 seconds, then re-grip the club. This will help you get use to holding the club and it will come second nature to you.

second tip…practice your setup with a club in your hand. this best if you do it in front of a mirror.
third tip…place a club across your chest and fold your arms to support the club. with slight tilt, you want to turn your shoulder 180 degree and slowly turn your shoulder back the other direction without coming out of your setup. slowly pick up the pace of turning your shoulder without losing your balance.

my best tip is to take lessons from PGA Pro instructor at your local golf course. welcome to the game and have fun….tell me later how u like this game…

.Take lessons from a qualified instructor, you can’t teach yourself.

Call local golf courses and ask about “learn to play” programs, group lessons, or private lessons, depending on how much money you want to spend. Some community colleges also offer golf lessons, which may be open to anybody.

Or ask around at community groups you belong too; most groups of people include golfers, some of whom might be happy to help you get started.

It is very helpful to have someone to help you get around the course the first few times. Golf is not just about technique; etiquette is also important.
